Printify alternatives when quality needs to be consistent

Updated October 27, 2026

Printify works by connecting sellers with a network of print providers. You can compare providers on price and location, which is useful, but it also means the result depends on which provider prints your order. Sellers who want more consistency, or who sell items a printer cannot make, look at alternatives. This page explains the trade-offs.

Why quality can vary on a provider network

When different providers fulfill the same type of product, they may use different equipment and follow different standards. A listing can look the same in your store while the physical product differs from one order to the next.

  • Test any provider with a sample order before you rely on it.
  • Keep a backup option for your best sellers.
  • Track returns and complaints by product, so a drop in quality shows up early.

Options if you want more control

  • Choose one provider and stick with it, so you learn their quality.
  • Move production in-house if volume justifies the equipment and your time.
  • Assign orders to a maker you know and trust, and keep using the same one. This is what Makers2Makers is built for. You can also open an order to bids and compare price, shipping and past ratings.

How handing an order to a maker works on Makers2Makers

  • Connect your store once (Shopify, Etsy, WooCommerce, Wix, Square, eBay, Amazon, TikTok Shop, BigCommerce, Squarespace, Walmart or Magento). Orders come in on their own.
  • Assign an order to a maker you already know, or open it to bids and compare price, shipping and past ratings.
  • Files and personalization details travel with the order, and you can approve a file before production starts.
  • The maker makes it and ships it. You buy the shipping label in the app at live carrier rates.
  • Makers are paid every Friday once the carrier has scanned the package.

What it costs

Joining is free for sellers and makers, and there is no subscription. When an order is routed to a maker, the seller pays 5% + $0.30 on top of the maker’s price and the maker pays 5% + $0.30 from their payout. Nothing is charged until an order is made. Sellers pay for the shipping label.

When Printify or another print-on-demand service is still the right choice

If your product is a printed design on a standard blank and you want the widest catalog with no setup, print on demand is a sensible choice. Makers are better when the product needs engraving, embroidery, specific materials or hand finishing, or when you want the same person making every order.

Common questions

How do I know a maker will do good work?

You choose. You can assign an order to a maker you already know, or open it to bids and compare price, shipping and past ratings. After delivery you rate the maker.

What if an order arrives damaged or wrong?

Makers are paid only after the carrier scans the package. If something is damaged or wrong, you can open a dispute or ask for a redo, and you can pull an order back from a maker who misses the deadline.

Try it with one order
