Redbubble alternatives for sellers who want to own the customer

Updated October 27, 2026

Redbubble is a marketplace: artists upload designs, and the marketplace prints and sells them on its own site. That is a low-effort way to reach buyers, but the marketplace owns the storefront, the customer relationship and the production. Sellers who want their own brand look at selling through their own store instead.

What a marketplace gives you, and what it takes

  • You get an existing audience and no store to run.
  • You usually do not control production, pricing power, or the customer’s contact details.
  • Your products sit next to thousands of similar ones on the same site.

Selling in your own store

  • Open a store on Etsy, Shopify or another platform where your brand is the focus.
  • You keep the customer relationship and can build repeat business.
  • You still do not have to make everything yourself: a maker can produce and ship each order.

How handing an order to a maker works on Makers2Makers

  • Connect your store once (Shopify, Etsy, WooCommerce, Wix, Square, eBay, Amazon, TikTok Shop, BigCommerce, Squarespace, Walmart or Magento). Orders come in on their own.
  • Assign an order to a maker you already know, or open it to bids and compare price, shipping and past ratings.
  • Files and personalization details travel with the order, and you can approve a file before production starts.
  • The maker makes it and ships it. You buy the shipping label in the app at live carrier rates.
  • Makers are paid every Friday once the carrier has scanned the package.

What it costs

Joining is free for sellers and makers, and there is no subscription. When an order is routed to a maker, the seller pays 5% + $0.30 on top of the maker’s price and the maker pays 5% + $0.30 from their payout. Nothing is charged until an order is made. Sellers pay for the shipping label.

What you still have to do yourself

  • Bring your own traffic. Your own store has no built-in audience, so marketing is on you.
  • Create the product listings and set your prices, including the maker’s price and your fees.
  • Handle customer service, with the maker’s help on production questions.
